Well, Hello!

I know, I've been MIA.  I didn't mean to be, but somehow, time got away from me and it became easier and easier to not blog.  But I want to do a sort of catch up of the last 6 months.  6 months - where did the time go?!?!

At the end of March, I went back to work.  Thankfully, the transition was relatively painless as Amelia was great about daycare - no tears! That made thing much easier and we're really happy with our daycare provider.  We chose a home daycare and Parm and her family treat Amelia very well and enjoy seeing her every day.

At the beginning of April, Amelia turned one (already!).  We did a photoshoot on her birthday and then had her Parisian themed party a few days later.

And some birthday pictures...

It was a great day and Amelia did so well.
Next up, I turned 40.  Unfortunately, both Amelia and I were sick.  I did go for a pedi with my friend Heather which was nice.  Jase decorated the car with a banner that said The Big 40 so that was cute.
May was rather uneventful, although I did apply for a new job and I got it so I moved to it in June.  I was in the job previously as a temporary reassignment, so I am thankful I'm now a part of the group permanently.
Mid-June I went for my yearly "skin scan" since I had a mole with melanoma removed in 2010.  Unfortunately, another mole looked like it had changed so I had it biopsied.  I got word mid-July that it was melanoma again and had surgery July 30.  The diagnosis kind of sucked the fun out of the summer for me.  Even though I have had a mole successfully removed before, this time it scared the crap out of me.  I really struggled finding joy in my days.  I held my breath a lot.  Worried A LOT.  Played the what if game.  I was not in a good place.
Post surgery
The news in early September confirming that they had clear margins all around the mole and that I caught it very early (stage one and even earlier than my previous mole) has helped me relax and breathe a little bit.  I still worry here and there but my days are no longer consumed by it.
Amelia has continued to grow and grow.  Her hair now has cute curls, she talks a lot and recently started walking and within days, was walking everywhere.
She is an absolute light in my life and the best thing I've ever done.
So there you go, that's what has happened in the last 6 months. I'm hoping to get more crafty time in over the next while and hope to blog a little more too.
Thanks for popping by!
Have a great day!

Life in Details - March Challenge

Hi there!

I'm back with a project life page from 2014. I finished my 2013 book mid-February (after being 10 months behind and then spending months catching up) and I VOWED that I would NOT fall behind in 2014. So far, I'm doing pretty good at staying on track.  Having a Canon Selphy to print my photos has really helped and for anyone doing Project Life, I highly recommend getting one. Anywhoo, I was checking out the Life in Details blog and the March Project Life sketch spoke to me.

Here's the sketch:

And here's what I did:

Pretty simple, no? But super fun & cute. I had just purchased the "you" arrow and was itching to put it to good use. The background for the photo is actually a rearranged version of the card I made for Jason for Valentine's day. It had a string of the hearts across the entire front. I left the card intact so that if Jase or Amelia ever wanted to read the mushy stuff inside, they could :)

The rest of the page includes the weekly photos, journalling, the cover sheet I put together and the Valentine's Day card I made Amelia. I kept it intact too so that she could read our words somewhere down the road.

Stop by the Life in Details blog and play along!

Have a great day!

Blog your Heart

I've decided to participate in Stephanie Howell's blog your heart for January.  If you're not sure what that is, here's the lowdown...

 BYH // via www.stephaniehowell.com
Here are the "rules" (same as always):
eta- this is NOT just for the last 2 days in January. add your link ANY TIME before the next BYH!

1. Blog whatever is authentic. Whatever is truly on your mind and in your heart.
2. It can be serious, silly, short, long. NOTE:No one said it has to be serious. But it should be authentic.
3. No judging allowed no snarky comments, no making fun, no passive agressive digs.If you are going to read the blogs linked below, don't be mean. Nothing here is whining, though I can't help it if you perceive it that way. It's me honestly sharing my feelings. if you feel that it's whining, then you don't have to read. :)
4. If you BYH, link back here. I'll add an Inlinkz tool at the end of the post. I always read and comment on every single post.
5. Feel free to use the graphic above. Just make sure to link back to me.

There's lots on my mind, so here goes!

1.  Amelia is 10 months old now.  She's awesome - sweet, giggly, happy, friendly, lazy (the girl does not want to stand or walk), an absolutely blessing in our lives.  I never knew I could love someone so much.  This is amazing and terrifying at the same time.  But I wouldn't go back to my life before we had her. Which leads to number 2...

2. I go back to work in 2 months.  2 months?? Whaa, how'd that happen?  Time has flown.  And I didn't get anywhere near the amount of stuff done around our 100 year old house that I wanted to. No trim has been painted. No stair risers wallpapered. No cupboards organized.  I feel bad about this, because when I go back to work, I'm going to have even less time for this stuff.  How am I going to manage it all?

3. I have my first interview for a daycare provider for Amelia tonight.  Scary.  How will I know I'm making the right decision?  We're deciding between a daycare centre and home daycare.  How do you go about choosing someone who will love my little girl almost as much as I do?  I was so sure that I wanted her in a daycare centre but the reality is, it's nearly double the cost.  But then I feel guilty that money is influencing my choice - it shouldn't matter?  Yet it does.  We could do it, we're living on half my income now, but I'm not gonna lie, it's tight.  So currently, I'm (we're) leaning towards a home daycare.  Many people have had AMAZING experiences with home daycare, that the provider is like an extended family member but I still have misgivings.  But we're going to do some interviewing over the next few days and then maybe we'll have some clarity.

4.  I turn 40 in April.  40.  I can't believe it.  I'm not dreading it at all but it's weird, I don't feel that old (not that 40 is old - it's not). Jason is itching to whisk me away somewhere warm for my birthday, but I don't think we're going to be able to make it happen.  Which is ok :)

I guess that's it for now. Thanks for reading.  Huh, somehow, it feels a little better to write out all the things that have been on my mind.  Imagine that :)

Have a great day!

Amelia - month by month

Hi there,

I'm back again - one of my goals for 2014 is to blog a bit more.  It may not always be crafty stuff, but another goal is to create a bit more this year so maybe the 2 will go hand in hand :)

I started this post in early December...then ran into uploading problems with my computer.  I finally have that all sorted out.  So I'm going to post pics of my girl over the course of 2013.  Every month we do a photo shoot with her

Amelia Month 1

Amelia Month 2

Amelia Month 3

Amelia Month 4

Amelia Month 5

Amelia Month 6 (we had family photos done)

Amelia Month 7

Amelia Month 8

And this month, she's 9 months.  Already!!!  The time is going too quickly.  We're enjoying her immensely and it will be tough to go back to work.  She's a happy, smiley, sweet girl who has totally changed our lives for the better.  We're so blessed :)

Happy 2014!

Kelly :)

Guest Designer - Life in Details - Use Bling

Hi there!

I know, long time no blog post.  I'm still trying to find a balance between mommy-hood and scrapbooking.  I'm slowly finding more time to scrapbook so I'm hoping to be back to regular blogging again soon.

When Darcy contacted me to be a Guest Designer this month, I only hesitated for a one second and then said Yes! It was the kickstart I needed to get back to working on my project life (I was only 10 months behind!)

Here's what I came up for the use bling challenge:

The centre of the snowflake has bling and there's 3 little bling bits to the right of the snowflake.  The silver glitter snowflake could be seen as blingy too.  I think it turned out well and I had fun making it. And it was what I needed to get me back at my project life. Now, I'm caught up to April with journalling, and July with pictures printed & sorted, ready for journalling. As I posted all of my photos on facebook, the journalling part is easy, it's the organizing the photos that take time. I've been plugging away at it for a couple of weeks now, after Amelia goes to bed and I'm hoping that I will have our 2013 album finished by her 1st birthday.

Anyhow, thanks for stopping by. I can't wait to what you come up with!

Happy scrapping!

More from my scrappy Saturday

I'm back again with another creation from the all day crop I attended last week.  It's based on a sketch from Stuck?! sketches

I am happy with how it turned out and I plan to play along at Stuck?! again.  And, another page for Miss Amelia's baby book is done!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Around the World Online crop - with Two Scrapbook Friends

Happy Friday!

I've been crafting again! I went to an all day crop last Saturday (daddy's first time taking care of Amelia on his own - they did great!) It was awesome! A great time with great friends and I managed to get a couple of layouts done too.

I completed this layout of our trip to Madrid (it's been EXACTLY a year - my how times have changed!) We went to a flamenco show at Corral de la Moreria and it was fabulous. I loved it!

This works for Joanne's map challenge on the Two Scrapbook Friends online crop.  This layout is the right side of a double page layout.
Thanks for peeking!
Have a great weekend!
Kelly :)
